When the African Giant crooner Burna Boy lost the 2020 Grammy World Music Category award to Beninese vocal powerhouse, Angelique Kidjo, he affirmed that he isn’t losing hope or grit in expanding his work this year. With a new song featuring recent Grammy winner, Mikayla Simpson, popularly called Koffee, in the works, it may seem that Burna is pursuing his post-Grammy resolutions.The singer announced this informally by dropping a minute-long snippet of his self performing at his Grammy nomination celebration party in Los Angeles and recording new music with the reggae ‘ragamuffin’ sensation, Koffee, on his Instagram page. He is yet disclosed further information on the joint track.It could be recalled that both individuals have publicly expressed profound interest in each other’s musical journeys, in recent times. In a July 2019 interview with U.S.-based magazine, The Atlantic, Burna tagged the Toast crooner as his ‘spiritual sister.’ Koffee had also affirmed in a tweet four months prior that she was eager to work with Burna boy.Since her meteoric rise to fame, following an Instagram repost of her ode to Usain Bolt, by the Olympian athlete himself, in 2017, 19-year-old Koffee has since affirmed her position as a Jamaican musical powerhouse, by becoming the youngest Jamaican to win a Grammy award, as well as the first woman to win in the Best Reggae Album category she was nominated for, for her debut album Rapture.With her signature ragamuffin style, succinctly flavoured with melodious and socio-conscious lyrics, Koffee previously demonstrated that she is very musically compatible with the Port-Harcourt born Burna Boy, after two breath-taking covers of Burna’s 2018 hit single Ye, in March 2019; the first during her first UK show and the latter on BBC’s 1xtra Live Lounge. Burna also remarked the impressiveness of the performance on his Instagram page during that period.

Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, known professionally as Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and pianist. He was discovered on Twitter by Davido when he posted a cover of one of Davido's "The Money" featuring Olamide. He was later signed to Davido's DMW in 2016 and released his first single called "Eleko".

Highlife music legend Victor Abimbola Olaiya (also called Dr Victor Olaiya) has died.The popular musician passed on at noon on Wednesday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).His record label, Evergreen Music Company Limited, broke the news in a statement in Lagos.“This untimely incident happened at LUTH in Lagos State at noon today (Wednesday, February 12, 2020). We pray that the doyen of highlife music find repose with the creator while wishing the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. And to my name sake, Abimbola Olaiya, I will miss your contribution to highlife music.”Olaiya sang the world-famous song, titled: Baby Jowo.He was 89.In July 2013, he released a music video remix of the song with 2Face Idibia and was received with much acclaim.Speaking on the future of highlife genre, the trumpeter was quoted in an interview: “High life has a great future because for it I live, for it I shall die.”

Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott, is one damsel who has been able to sustain her relevance in Nollywood, despite the challenges of marriage and motherhood.Although, there are speculations that Ufuoma’s friendship with her colleagues – Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo and Chioma Akpotha had since packed, as it couldn’t stand the test of time, mother of two would not want to talk about that aspect of their lives.However, going further, the actress revealed how to sustain friendship in Nollywood.She said, ”I don’t think, I have ever sat back and drawn a plan, saying this person is going to be my friend. It just happens; your spirit just flows with certain kinds of people. You allow them into your inner circle. They look out for you, you look out for them. It is something that just happens, it is not planned.”Explaining how she has been able to achieve a balance between being an actress, a wife and a mother, McDermott said, “I don’t there is something special because its entertainment. It’s the same way with doctors who have to go out for days and weeks. Even teachers can be transferred, diplomats who travel up and down. At the end of the day, balancing your family is dependent on you as a person, what you consider your priority and how you plan your life.”Speaking further, the filmmaker added that she had never been under pressure to fit in as a public figure.“It’s a case of to each their own; you will feel pressured if you want to be pressured. So I don’t feel any pressure. I am a working actor; I am not a social media actor. I act for real. Acting is my day job, so I am like the banker who gets up in the morning, goes to the bank, finishes from the bank and goes home. It’s the same for me. If I am on a movie set, I go do my job and I go home. I don’t feel any pressure as long as I don’t put it on myself,” she said.
